Message on InstagramNot at all. Lessons are open to any Penn State student, whether or not you're on the club team. Starting in Fall 2026, I will be offering free clinics at the IM. Specific details are not yet clear, but any relevant information will be posted here and on the Club Climbing Instagram as it becomes available.
Yes. Some of the most impactful coaching happens early in a climber's development, when good habits are still easy to build. You don't need a grade, a project, or a comp result to benefit from the structured training the team can provide.
Due to unexpected changes this summer, the location of club practices is currently unclear. However starting in Fall 2026, I will be offering free clinics at the IM. Specific details are not yet clear, but any relevant information will be posted here and on the Club Climbing Instagram as it becomes available.
The team competes seriously — our goal is always to qualify for and perform well at collegiate nationals. That said, members who want to train hard without competing can join the recreational team. The rec team practices alongside the competitive team, so you'll get the same high-quality instruction and training environment.
